Abida criticised

for supporting

contract system

KARACHI: Central Senior Vice President of the All Pakistan Trade Unions Organisation and veteran labour leader, Habibuddin Junaidi, has strongly criticised the suggestion of Abida Hussain, Minister for Population Welfare, for her anti-labour and anti-civil servant attitude and for proposing contractual system of employment in the private and public sector.

In a statement on Wednesday, Junaidi said that the ban on trade union activities and offering jobs on contract in the private and public sector including in the civil services would be disastrous for the industrial, economic and cultural sectors of the country.

He said national issues like unemployment, increase in industrial production, strengthening of various government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions could only be achieved after giving sense of protection to the functionaries of all these institutions.

He demanded increase in the salaries of government servants and the employees of the private sector.
