Gohar urged to press
Wapda to supply
350 mw to KESC
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Zubair Motiwala, Member, Board of Directors, Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) has urged Gohar Ayub Khan, Federal Minister for Water and Power, to order Wapda to provide power to KESC to meet its shortfall of 350 mw.
Wapda was denying power supply to KESC on the pretext of non-payment in spite of the fact that KESC is in the process of floating bonds worth Rs 11.5 billion and ultimately Wapda will be paid for KESC offtake.
It is ironic that on the one hand the minister is advocating surplus power and reduction in tariff to sell more power, and on the other hand, WAPDA officials are unnecessarily withholding the supply.
Motiwala expressed his anguish on 5-6 hours loadshedding in industrial areas, which is a daily feature.
