India cotton steady
BOMBAY: Indian cotton prices were steady on Monday as hopes faded over more export quotas by the government, dealers said.
"Overall market sentiment was subdued in the absence of any announcement by the Indian government for more cotton exports," one dealer said.
In spot deals Bengal-deshi was quoted at 810/850 rupees per maund (37.32 kg) while saw-ginned variety remained quiet at 1,475/1,525 rupees. Gujarat Kalyan (medium-staple) held steady at 10,500/10,800 rupees per candy (355.56 kg) and long-staple Gujarat Sankar-4 at 18,000/19,000 rupees per candy.-Reuter
