ISLAMABAD: The visiting U S Senator Hank Brown called on federal minister for defence, Aftab Shahban Mirani here today.

The minister appreciated the efforts of Senator Brown, which he made to get amended the unjust Pressler Amendment and said after the passage of the Brown amendment avenues of cooperation in economic field, as well as release of defence equipment, was now a possibility.

Mirani expressed his concern on the aggressive Indian designs and said its devasting missile programme was a security threat for South Asia.

He elaborated that the will of the Kashmiri people cannot be subjugated indefinitely and the issue and the issue needs to be resolved in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.

Pakistan, Mirani said will welcome an initiative of the U.S. Government for resolution of this problem.

The minister was hopeful that as a result of recent deliberations of our defence team's visit to US the outcome would be positive.

Senator Brown said he was glad to be in Pakistan once again, which would lead to closer understanding between the two countries.-APP
