ISLAMABAD: The President of Azerbaijan Haider Aliyev will arrive here on Tuesday on a three day official visit to Pakistan.

He will lead a high-level delegation. The visit is being paid at the invitation of President Farooq Leghari.

Officials of the Foreign Office termed the visit as highly important for further improving bilateral relations. It will also provide an opportunity to exchange views at the highest level on bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest.

President Leghari and Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto will brief the Azerbaijan President on the latest developments on the Kashmir issue as well as on Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Nogorno Karabagh and Bosnia.

The visit of President Haider Aliyev will be a milestone in our bilateral relations with the Azerbaijan Republic, the officials said.

During President's visit to Azerbaijan in October, 1995 an invitation was extended to President Haider Aliyev to visit Pakistan which had been accepted. This is the first visit of the Azerbaijan President to Pakistan.-APP
