CSCE world sugar mixed at midday, nearbys weaker

NEW YORK: CSCE world sugar was narrowly mixed at midsession, as locals liquidated long positions and erased the nearby months' early gains, traders said.

At 1104 EST, May sugar was 0.03 cent a lb weaker at 11.74 cents, traded from 11.86 to 11.70 cents. July was down 0.01 at 10.98 cents, while the remaining months traded down 0.01 to up 0.03.

The market moved higher on trade and light speculative buying early on, but failed to make the 0.15-cent opening call basis May. Traders expect the market to be quiet ahead of the three-day holiday weekend and said volume had been thin this morning.-Reuter
