People urged donate money for Kashmiri refugees

KARACHI: A former care-taker prime minister, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, has stressed that the Kashmir issue should be resolved peacefully in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

He was addressing the members of Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) here on Sunday. The Chairman of parliament's Kashmir Committee, Nawabzada Nasarullah Khan, and president of PML (J), Hamid Nasir Chattha, also spoke on the occasion.

Jatoi said that the people of Kashmir must be granted the right for self-determination.

He said that Kashmir issue is not a new one and is as old as Pakistan is. Jatoi said that under a conspiracy Kashmir was prevented from becoming a part of Pakistan.

He said that the people of the occupied territory where 90 percent inhabitants are Muslims, struggled for the right of self-determination and for the past six years their struggle gathered strength.

Jatoi said that six lakh occupation Indian troops was the biggest military concentration anywhere in the world.

Jatoi said that previously the Kashmir issue was in cold storage but through the efforts of Nawabzada Nasarullah Khan and with the assistance of the present government this issue has been revived.

He said that various delegations were sent abroad who shed light on Kashmir issue and explained that India wants to forcibly impose its will on the Kashmiris.

Jatoi also asked the people of Pakistan to extend their moral and political support to the Kashmiris and donate money so that the Kashmiri refugees who crossed into Pakistan are taken care of and their basic needs are met.

He said that Nawabzada Nasarullah Khan and members of Kashmir committee are currently on fund-raising drive to meet the basic needs of the Kashmiris Mohajirs.

Speaking on the occasion, president of PML (J), Hamid Nasir Chattha, also appealed to the people to donate generously so that the basic needs of Kashmiri Mohajirs could be met.

He rejected the third option vis-a-vis Kashmir issue and said that acceptance of such a thing would be a historic anomaly.

Chattha also spoke about the atrocities of the Indian occupation forces in held Kashmir.

He said that six lakh Indian forces have been concentrated there and the ratio of troops is 1:2 able- bodied Kashmiris.

Mr. Chatta said that the Kashmiris are unarmed and their freedom struggle is indigenous.
