ISLAMABAD: As many as 23 people have been killed including a Major and six soldiers of the Indian Army in latest gunbattles between occupation troops and freedom fighters in the held Kashmir, BBC reported on Sunday.

According to BBC, at least 12 Kashmiri militants were martyred in an encounter in Kumaryar area. An Indian Army Major B.S. Tibram and six soldiers were also killed in the gunbattle.

A spokesman of the administration revealed that one soldier was killed when an army patrol came under Mujahideen attack. In another clash three activists of the Al-Ansar group and a civilian were killed in Sopore.

The group claimed that many occupation troops were killed when they blasted a landmine at Narabal near Srinagar. BBC said the report was neither confirmed nor refuted by the Indian defence officials.-APP
