urge to extend

cooperation to govt

SIALKOT: The Punjab Chief Minister Arif Nakai has said that a vigorous operation clean up has been initiated against corruption, lawlessness, terrorism and other crimes in every nook an d corner of the Punjab.

Addressing the members of Sialkot Bar Association on Sunday he urged the lawyers community to extend full cooperation and support to the government for successful results of the operation clean up.

The Chief Minister said that the lawyers community had played a key role in Pakistan movement and in protecting the democracy in the country. Nakai called upon the lawyers community to frustrate all the conspiracies against the government and democratic system.

The Chief Minsiter warned that nobody would be allowed to spoil the law and order in the Punjab. He said the construction of Kala Bagh Dam is vital for overall development of the country .

He said if Kala Bagh Dam was not constructed the whole country after ten years would become barren and it would create serious hurdles in the future development. He urged the leader of the opposition Nawaz Sharif that he should demand the establishment of Kala Bagh Dam at a public meeting in Lahore for the bright future of the country.

The Chief Minister said the public money was a sacred trust and added that he had already set up a judicial commission to probe into the embezzlement of former rulers. He said the police officers failing to provide protection to "Chader and Chardewari" would not be spared.

He said the government had distributed 80 lakh acres of land among the landless and homeless farmers of the Punjab. The chief minister said that he had a great regard for the lawyer community and judiciary saying that many of his family members were associated with this profession.

Nakai on this occasion announced a grant of Rs 7 lakh for Sialkot and assured that efforts would be made for the establishment of colony for the lawyers community of Sialkot.

Earlier, President, Sialkot Bar Association Mian Muhammad Rafiuddin presented the address of welcome and highlighted various problems facing the lawyers community of Sialkot.-APP
