ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is expected to inaugurate Rs 4 billion Lucky Cement plant shortly, says a press release.

The cement plant has a total capacity of 4,000 tonnes production per day and has been completed in three years.

Located in district Lakkimarwat, the project is spread over an area of 800 acres, financed by 100 percent equity.

The project designed by the Chinese exports, is based on state-of-the art by dry process technology and in order to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the plant, a captive power plant of 42 mw capacity has been installed at the site.

It is expected that raw material, in abundance at close quarters, would be enough to meet the production requirement of cement for 300 years.

As no major industrial unit exists in the southern part of NWFP, the cement plant and captive power plant in Lakkimarwat have provided direct employment to about 1,000 and indirect employment to about 5,000 people.
