Hizbollah fires

rockets after a

wave of attacks

TYRE, (Lebanon): Muslim guerrillas fired Katyusha rockets at northern Israel on Saturday after a wave of raids by Israeli aircraft against south Lebanon villages, security sources said.

They said guerrillas fired the rockets from areas north of Israel's south Lebanon occupation zone. It was not immediately known if any of the rockets slammed into northern Israel.

RAIDS AGAINST S LEBANON

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes launched two raids against south Lebanon on Saturday as Israel's blitz against Hizbollah guerrillas entered its third day, security sources said.

The sources said four people were wounded when rockets hit the village of Jbal al-Botom near the port of Tyre at dawn. Hours later, Israeli planes fired rockets into the village of Majdal Silm north of Israel's south Lebanon occupation zone.

No further details were immediately available. Pro-Iranian Hizbollah (Party of God) guerrillas are active in the two villages.

Security sources said Israeli and allied militia gunners sporadically shelled a number of villages north of the Israeli-held border buffer zone overnight and in the morning. There was no immediate report of casualities in the bombardment.

Israeli security sources said on Saturday morning bad weather was hampering air strikes against targets in Lebanon.

Israeli jets and helicopters made 16 raids in south Lebanon on Friday after warning civilians to leave 49 towns and villages that it planned to bombard.-Reuter
