Efforts being made to
nullify child labour
propaganda: Arif
SIALKOT: Vice-Chairman Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Abu Shamim M. Arif has said EPB has adopted concrete measures to denounce the allegations of child labour and bonded labour levelled by some European countries and a section of the foreign press against the business community of Pakistan.
Talking to APP on Tuesday, he said video films are being prepared while necessary printed material is also being prepared on the issue of child labour and bonded labour. These extra-ordinary efforts are being made to highlight the facts and nullify the misguiding propaganda of child labour and bonded labour levelled by some European countries against the business community of Pakistan, he added.
To a question the vice-chairman-EPB said that video films and printed material would be despatched to different Pakistani embassies for the exhibition. He said in future delegations would also be sent to USA and European countries for highlighting the true picture of the issue.
To another question, the said EPB has focused its attention on the promotion of export aimed at achieving the fixed export target of 9.2 billion US dollars for the current year. For this purpose EPB has taken the positive steps for ensuring maximum participation of Pakistani business community in international trade fairs and exhibitions, he added.
Vice-Chairman said special attention is also being accorded to explore new markets both traditional and non-traditional markets of the world for introducing the all products being produced in the country. To another question, he said the EPB is extending all possible co-operation and assistance to the business community of the country and motivating them to participate in international trade fairs and exhibitions for boosting up the export as well as to capture new markets. He asked the business community of the country that they should concentrate to visit non-traditional markets for assessing the possibilities and chances of consumption of Pakistani goods in these markets.
Replying to another question, Abu Shamim said new trade policy will be beneficial for the business community in obtaining loans in foreign currency adding that government has taken the step to enable the business community to flourish their business. Abu Shamim said that cutlery training institute is being set up at Wazirabad and the building of the institute has already been completed while machinery will be installed shortly.-APP
