Lack of drainage
Factories in
H'abad site
inundated
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: The Chairman Hyderabad SITE Association Mazharul Haq has expressed grave concern over the accumulation of water in the SITE area which has inundated a large number of factories.
He has sent telegrams to the Sindh chief minister, chief secretary, minister and secretary irrigation calling for emergency measures to drain out the water.
He said that the Phuleli canal was flowing at full capacity and as the gate of the dirty nullah was below the canal level, therefore there was a backlash of water which had submerged not only the pumping station but also the entire area of Hali Road, Goth Darya Khan, Usmanabad and other residential areas.
He said the water of the nullah had entered many factories resulting in the closure of many industrial units.
Haq has complained that the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) had miserably failed to drain out the water and expressed fears that if emergency measurers were not adopted, the industrial units and national exchequer will suffer losses to the tune of tens of millions of rupees.
