against dollar

DHAKA: The Bangladesh taka closed steady at 40.1995/40.2000 against the dollar compared with 40.1990/40.2000 previously, dealers said.

Dealers said interbank trading was partially hit by a shortfall in dollar supply because of increased imports. Some of the banks had to buy dollard from the central bank to meet their requirements, said one dealer with a foreign bank.

Taka rates have reached the ceiling of the central bank's band of 40.20. Interbank call money rates closed at 3.25 percent to 3.5 percent against 2.95-3.15 percent previously.-Reuter
