Pak Army
contingent
off to Bosnia
KARACHI: A contingent of Pakistan Army left for Bosnia by a UN chartered aircraft on Saturday. Senior army officers were present at the airport to see off the contingent which also included the commanding officer of the battalion.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday ISPR the Pakistan Army contingent is the 4th largest group of the United Nations forces in Bosnia.
It is deployed in two groups (Pakbat-1 and Pakbat-2) in Bosnia Pakbat-1 is deployed at Bareas and Pakbat-2 is located at Visca.
The Pakistani contingents have been is position since August 31, 1994. They are now well entrenced and settled in their areas of responsibility performing their duties as peacekeepers under the UN flag.
The Pakistan contingent is also running two 25-bed field hospitals. The hospitals are equipped with facilities for specialised medical and surgical taretment.
These hospitals are extending health care and medical aid to the locals as well.-PPI
