GENEVA: Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic flew to Geneva on Sunday and met international mediators and senior officials of the European Union to discuss the crisis in Croatia, U.N. officials said. A U.N. spokeswoman said Granic was meeting mediators Carl Bildt and Thorvald Stoltenberg, Spanish Foreign Minister Javier Solana and the EU's commissioner responsible for Balkan policy, Hans Van Den Broek.
The previously unannounced meeting followed talks in Geneva on Saturday evening between EU envoy Bildt, U.N. mediator Stoltenberg and Solana, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the EU. U.N. spokeswoman Therese Gastaut said no precise agenda had been given, but added: "They will discuss the situation in Croatia, that is obvious."
