committee
approves deletion
programmes
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The Indigenization Committee has approved a number of deletion programmes relating to automobile industry, diesel engines, mechanical industries like sugar plants and boiler etc electric goods and domestic applicances.
The indigenisation committee headed by Secretary Industries and Production, Waqar Rustam was set up on the recommendations of commission for promotion of engineering goods in the country.
The deletion programme would help achieve the objectives of import substitution as well as generate job opportunities in the country.
As exercise is also being carried out by the National Tarrif Commission to dispel the circumstances being faced by other automobile sector.
The committee would submit further recommendation for achieving the objectives of indigenization under the policy.
The committee comprises the representatives of Ministry of Commerce, Defence Production Division, CBR and Manufacturers Association.
