Dacoits snatch
away Rs 700,000
from Lahore
money-changer
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Two dacoits on Sunday snatched Rs 700,000 from an employee of a money-changer at the Hall Road-McLeod Road crossing and got away in a car snatched from a motorist.
According to the report lodged with the police two persons, Rashid Mehmood and Inaam-ur-Rehman employees of a money-changing firm, Khanani and Khalid, were going on a motorcycle No LOH 4227 to American Bank to deposit Rs 700,000 in the bank. Rashid Mehmood was driving the motorcycle while Inam was riding the pillion.
When they reached near the said crossing they had to stop due to traffic blockade. Just at that time, two middle-aged persons, taking advantage of this hold up in traffic snatched the bag containing currency notes worth Rs 700,000 from Rashid Mehmood while Inam, sitting behind Rashid, made good his excape from the dacoits.
Later, the two dacoits snatched a Mehran car bearing No LOV 2448 from a motorist and fled from the spot.
This car was later found abandoned near the Lahore Hotel at the next crossing.
Police were still engaged in discussion to decide the matter of jurisdiction under which police station the case fell.
Well, it is expected that as soon as the question of jurisdiction is decided a formal case will be registered and detailed investigations will be started.
