KARACHI: Agha Hassan Abidi, a household name in the world of banking, who expired after a protracted illness on Saturday at the age of 77, was laid to rest at Bagh-e-Ali here on Sunday.

The majority of the senior bankers were conspicous by their absence in the funeral march or burial of the expired banker.

Prominent among those who attended the last rites were Meraj Mohammad Khan, Preident, Qaumi Mohaz-e-Azadi, Syed Hashim Reza, Surgeon Adeeb Rizvi, United Bank's Aziz Memon, Younus Khan of Deutsche Bank, and a large number of the Agha's admirers, friends and relatives, besides former employees of the defunct BCCI.

The governor of Sindh Kamaluddin Azfar had visited the residence of Agha Hasan Abidi on Saturday night to condole with the bereaved family.
