of health
insurance
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has called for exploring the possibility of introduction of health insurance scheme in Pakistan for meeting costly treatment of ailments like heart diseases.
She said this during her visit to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology here on Saturday, to enequire about the health of PPP Vice-Chairman Shaikh Mohammad Rashid admitted there for treatment. She was accompanied by Governor Punjab, Raja Saroop Khan and Chief Minister Manzoor Wattoo besides others.
She was told by the staff that life saving injections for those suffering heart attacks cost much and not many people could afford that.
The Prime Minister asked the institute administrator Dr. Shehryar for launching a campaign to motivate the people to use only such edibles as were free of cholestrol and chemicals in order to minimise heart troubles.
The visit to the institute was the premier's first engagement on return from visit to a relief camp in tehsil Muridke, district Sheikhupura on Saturday morning.
