Palm oil not
the cause of
heart diseases
LAHORE: The scientific research has proved the palm oil as not only harmless for coronary heart diseases but also improve the defence system of body against various fatal diseases.
The findings of these researches have been made public by Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council (MPOPC) in Lahore.
The MPOPC while releasing the scientific findings here on Saturday dispelled the impression that excessive use of palm oil was causing heart diseases in Pakistan where for over a decade palm oil has been a major raw material involved in the manufacturing of vanaspati ghee.
The research studies specifically looked at the cholestrol effect of some hard edible fats and established that many proteins which are combined with fatty substances continue the normal action in the body during the use of palm oil as a diet.
Positive indications were observed when different coronary problems were monitored in the studies.
It was held in the finding that the fatty acids in the palm oil did not show any harmful effect on health. It revealed that compared to the Western diet, the palm oil did not raise serum total cholestrol and LDL cholestrol.
It was also judged in the findings that the presence of natural anti-oxident was yet another useful feature of the palm oil which plays an important role in strengthening the defence system of body against number of dangerous diseases.
The MPOPC said that this impression is totally baseless that the palm oil is causing heart diseases in the country and therefore is not fit for human consumption.-APP
