No let-up in Indian
repression despite
flood ravages
SRINAGAR: Despite rampaging floods in the valley, the Indian forces continue their siege and search operations and ghastly atrocities on innocent people, reports Kashmir Media Service.
The Indian forces have besieged large areas of Sopor including Shalapura, Naupura, Arampura, Chankipura, Rrak Shawan and Doabgah. The people were forced out in heavy rains and subjected to identity parade. Many youths were arrested and sent to torture cells.
The central area of Srinagar is also under Indian forces' crackdown and siege and search operation have been launched since early morning. A number of people were arrested and subjected to severe torture. Some of them were let off in unconscious condition.
Seven youths were arrested during crackdown in Fatehkadal. Many areas of Jammu province have also been subjected to siege search operations and innocent people are being arrested and sent to interrogation centres.
The Indian forces are also resorting to custodial killings. Dead bodies of many youths have been found at various places.
The mutiliated body of one, Gulzar Ahmad was found in a field in Mandji in Palwama.
In Rutpura in Palwama another unidentified dead body was seen lying in a deserted place. In Chak Rajauli in Qazigund area of district Islamabad (Anantnag), the dead body of a youth, Nisar Ahmad Sheikh was found in a nullah.
The Indian forces broke into houses in Kupwara and Sanzipura and killed two youths, Nazir Ahmad Butt and Abdul Majeed Ganai by point blank firing.
Reports of demonstrations as a protest against Indian atrocities have been received from many places. In Tangmerg area in Baramula a strike is being observed for the last four days against the Indian forces' highhandedness. All business centres and shops are closed and demonstrations are being held.
In Tral of Palwama district large scale demonstrations have been held against Indian atrocities. In Noyabug area protest demonstrations are being held against the destruction of the house of a religious personage by the forces.
The protest strike continues in Bhaderva area of Doda district which is under curfew.
Reports of severe clashes between the Mujahideen and the Indian forces have also been received from many areas. In Mughal Mohallah of Chattabal the Mujahideen attacked a military patrol and inflicted heavy casualties. The Indian forces suffered heavy casualties in Naugam area during the clash with the Mujahideen. A Mujahid Commander, Usman was also martyred whose funeral was attended by thousands of people who chanting anti-India slogans.
The Mujahideen attacked the Indian forces in Doabagh of Sopore district during a crackdown. A number of soldiers were killed and wounded in the clash. However, the Mujahideen suffered no casualty.
In Awanta Bhawan, Srinagar and Butkot area of Islamabad the Mujahideen attacked the Indian forces and inflicted heavy casualties. In Butkot a Mujahid, Abdul Majeed Khar was also martyred, but before his martyrdom, he killed and wounded a number of soldiers.
A clash between the Mujahideen and the Indian forces also took place in Jammu which continued for many hours. Reportedly the Indian forces suffered heavy losses in this clash. The mujahideen attacked the forces' bunkers in Nauhatta, Bararipura and Khanyar areas of Srinagar and inflicted heavy casualties.
According to the BBC the Mujahideen attacked a house in Pampur where the Additional Chief Secretary of Occupied Kashmir, Mohammad Shafi Pandit had gone to meet his relatives. The escort of the additional chief secretary was taken by surprise when the Mujahideen opened fire. One police constable was killed. A heavy police contingent rushed to the spot and whisked away Mohammad Shafi Pandit.-PPI
