LONDON: MQM chief Altaf Hussain has urged President Farooq Leghari and Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Abdul Waheed to "frame charges of committing murder against all those responsible for massacre of MQM activists and supporters during custody by law enforcement forces in Karachi, without any discrimination of status, to fulfil the natural demand of justice."

In a statement issued here last night Altaf Hussain disclosed that during the last few weeks, more than 50 MQM innocent workers were murdered in the custody of those who arrested them, but they always pretended their assassination as killed in police confrontation. He emphatically said, the saner elements of the country and common people could not be "deceived by such disinformation for all times and for long."

He said, the army officer who was found guilty of murdering nine villagers in Tando Bhawal was court marshalled and sentenced to death, but on the other hand, the murders of MQM activists in the police custody were being awarded by the prime minister and the chief minister of Sindh. "This is sheer injustice and discrimination particular with Mohajir community, which calls for your immediate attention," Altaf demanded.-PPI
