Iran offers

assistance for

flood victims

ISLAMABAD: Iran has sympathized with Pakistan over the destruction caused by recent floods and has offered humanitarian assistance for the affected people.

Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashmi Rafsanjani in a message to Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto said that his government and nation," were deeply touched by the floods," which caused huge loss of life and property.

Expressing sympathy with the affected people and the bereaved families of the victims, he said, "the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to, in case required, send its humanitarian help for the afflicted people".

He prayed to Almighty God for the remission of deceased and patience for the bereaved families and people of Pakistan.

Iranian First Deputy President Hasan Habibi also sent a message to Prime Minister Benazir expressing deep shock on the tragic floods and offered", possible necessary help to the afflicted Muslim brothers and sisters."-APP
