PM performs
ground
breaking
ceremony
BHALWAL: Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto said here on Wednesday that the long term and macro-level planning being carried out after a gap of 16 years, is going to make Pakistan emerge as a dynamic and vibrant country very soon.
Speaking at ground breaking ceremony for gas provision to the heartland developing town of Punjab, she said that country's progress remained hampered because previous rulers kept themselves engaged in workinng out short-term solutions.
Recalling the period of 1970s, she said all heavy and development generating industries were set up during Prime Minister Z.A. Bhutto's era.
On the other hand, the Martial Law government, which removed the awami government, bequeathed nothing but the culture of klasshinikov and heroin, ethnic fights of sectarian feuds, provincialism and factionalism.
Now back on the path of development she said the people' government has fixed high public welfare priorities irrespective of any ulterior consideration. "Service to people in power and out of power," she said "is the motto being pursued by the PPP government.
Earlier, when the prime minister landed at the helipad along with Governor Punjab, Lt. Gen (Retd) Raja Saroop Khan, she was driven through rows of cheering crowds on the roadsides to the venue of the function.
Reminding people the promises the prime minister had made to people of Bhalwal during elections, Benazi said that her government fulfilled the commitment of gas provision not only to the people of Bhalwal but to several other cities of the country.
With her long term planning, she said the scourge of loadshedding would be completely eliminated in a short time. For Bhalwal two powerful 132 KV grid stations have been built at a cost of Rs four crore and work is fast progressing on water drainage and other scheme through peoples programme fundss.
Expressing gratitude to the people for electing "their own sister" to the PM's office, she said she reposed full confidence in them as a handworking, intelligent and fighting nation to assist her in transforming the country into a developed state.
Earlier, Syed Naseer Ahmad, Secretry Petroleum and Senator Ihsan-ul-Haq Piracha also spoke on the occasion.-APP
