KARACHI: The Central Board of Revenue has further amended the Central Excise Rules 1944 through SRO 859(1)/95.

A notification issued by the CBR says that in excercising the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act 1944 (1 of 1994), the CBR is pleased to direct that the following further amendment shall be made in the Central Excise Rules 1994, namely:

In the aforesaid Rules, in rule 235, in sub-rule (1), for clause 39 the following shall be substituted, namely:-

"39 Ingots and billets produced in a factory, not using private power generator, which consumed on an average not more than 1200 KWH of electricity for production of one tonne of ingots or billets during the preceding working month."

The notification shall take effect on the first day of September, 1995.
