BBC office
case absconders
still at large
ISLAMABAD: The Kohsar Police have made no further arrests in the case of attack on BBC office here last Thursday.
The Chief patron of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Maulana Ziaur Rahman Farooqi and another activist, Mohammad Asghar, have been arrested and booked under sections 452, 436 of Pakistan Penal Code.
Six men, armed with iron rods, had ransacked the BBC office, damaging furniture and office equipment. The men, reportedly also fired in the air and raised slogans in favour of SSP.
The arrested man, Mohammad Asghar, was allegedly one of the six who forced into the office in F 7/3 while the others are still absconding.
Police sub inspector Sardar Mustafa, investigating the case, continued the questioning of SSP chief on Tuesday amidst strict precautionary measures outside the police station.
Maulana Ziaur Rahman Farooqi surrendered to police of his own accord in Faisalabad on Sunday and was boarded on a Islamabad-bound plane, where he was taken into custody by the waiting contingent of the Kohsar Police Station.
Before his arrest, Maulana Ziaur Rahman told newsmen that he had not ordered an attack on the BBC office, rather only to protest against the showing of an objectionable programme about his organization.-APP
