Kharal provided
wrong information,
say PBC workers
ISLAMABAD: The employees of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) working in the Central News Organization (CNO) have drawn the attention of Chairman Pakistan Environmental Protection Council, Asif Ali Zardari towards the worst environment conditions in the CNO.
They have demanded of Asif Zardari to himself visit CNO offices in the basement and witness the working environment there amid which the employees perform their duties round the clock.
The suffocation and non-passage of fresh air in CNO offices have created health hazards for employees and so far five lives have been lost due to breathing problem and Asthma. A number of employees are suffering from Asthma and few of them are seriously posed to jaundice.
The employees are of the view that there is no option to improve environment of CNO but to shift the offices to any other floor. They have requested the PEPC Chairman to plead their case in this connection.
Recently, replying to a question in the senate, Information Minister Khalid Khan Kharal told the House that the working environment in CNO is excellent and it is centrally air-conditioned.
The employees say that the management of PBC has provided wrong information to the information minister which also led to disinformation to the Upper House of the Parliament.
As far as the system of central air-conditioning was concerned, it exists but is not in operation and if it works it does not minimize the effects of suffocation.-PPI
