KARACHI: Senator Ishtiaq Azher who is also the convener of the MQM coordination committee, has vehemently condemned the "excesses committed by the SHO Risala police station and said that the Mohajir Khawateen who approached the police station in connection with massive arrest of their male members, including youngsters, were lathi charged, manhandled and dragged by pulling their hair at the orders of Thana Incharge.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Senator Azher charged the rangers, that police and all other forces opperating in Karachi sieged Lyari area, carried out house to house search, arrested all the male members, old and young, looted valuable and insulted womenfolk.

The women later reached Risala police station to enquire about their arrested male members, were victims of lathi charge and most of them were dragged out of station by ruling hair.

Senator Azher urged the government now being headed by a woman prime minister to refrain from such political victimisation and atrocities to avoid serious repercussions that might follow, he cautioned.-PPI
