Daewoo gets
contract to
build Lahore
Ring Road

LAHORE: Punjab Government has awarded a contract to construct Rs 8 billion worth 60 kilometre long Lahore Ring Road to Daewoo Corporation of Korea which is working on controversial Lahore-Islamabad Motorway.
Sources said that Daewoo Corporation would construct the Lahore Ring Road from Kot Lakhpat industrial area to Mehmood Booti Bund at River Ravi at the southern end of the provincial metropolis to divert the heavy traffic which disturb Lahorites and creates traffic jams.
The Ring Road, which will be a dual carriage way, would have a width of 200 feet each side, would be completed in four years, under three phases. The first phase would be completed in two years while the second and third with an interval of one year each.
Total cost of the project is over Rs 8 billion. Daewoo Corporation has been given the design and feasibility of the project, which it had sent to its headquarters in Seoul.
