ISLAMABAD: The State and Technology Commission of China has formally ratified the Charter of the Network of International Science and Technological Centres of Excellence for Sustainable Development in the South. The Government of the People's Republic of China, in a communication addressed to Parvez Ahmad Butt, Executive Director, Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) has confirmed the ratification.

The COMSATS is an international organization and its immediate goal is to use existing ten international centres of excellence in the field of science and technology selected by COMSATS to provide leading role in the respective areas of specialization.

The COMSATS headquarters will promote the formation of a network of these centres and strengthen the collaboration within their respective fields. COMSATS aims at further upgradation of these selected centres and promoting joint research projects with practical merits to benefit the member countries.-APP
