starts producing
positive results
KARACHI: The Livestock Sector Development Project for which Asian Development Bank (ADB) had provided an assistance of Rs 140 million has started producing positive results.
This was stated by Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Pir Amjad Hussain Shah, here on Monday.
The Project is providing a regular training and information to livestock owners for improved breeding practices and to help fetch better earnings.
He said the project was already in operation in Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Sanghar and Thatta. He pointed out that it would help provide increased job opportunities.
Pir Amjad Shah said that health centres had also been established in different parts of the Province where experienced doctors and livestock assistants had been posted.
The Minister observed that basic facilities in many backward areas were almost lacking and the Government was taking effective steps for their provision to the people.
He urged the livestock owners to cooperate with the Government to overcome shortage of milk and meat and their evergrowing prices.
He said that under the Livestock Project formal committees have also been set up which would work under trained and skilled personnel. He hoped that its successful implementation would help the Province to earn tremendous revenues.-APP
