SCCI members

urged to fulfil

requirements

of ISO 9000

SIALKOT: President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Muhammad Akthar Qaiser has urged upon the local business community to adopt necessary measures to fulfil requirements of ISO 9000 on the top priority basis.

Talking to APP on Sunday he said the imposition of ISO 9000 will be carried out in 1997. President SCCI said with the implementation of ISO 9000 all exported goods will be tested and below standard goods will not be allowed for export purposes.

Muhammad Akhtar Qaiser further said, the implementation of ISO 9000 will enable the business community in improving the standard products as well as to compete the international markets. He said the new system will also help in boosting the free trade and trend of competition in international market.

He said, the business community should get their firms registered with authorised firms and obtain certificate, adding that after getting the certificate the exporters will be able to export their products without any hurdle. Qaiser disclosed 250 firms in India, 4000 firms in Turkey and 7000 firms in USA had already got authentication from authorised firm.

Presisdent SCCI urged the government to establish maximum laboratories for providing testing facilities to the business community of the country. Maximum establishment of laboratories in the country will help the business community to fulfil the requirements of ISO 9000, he added.

Expressing the hope the president SCCI, said, the government will consider to establish laboratories in different parts of the country for testing export products from Pakistan under the norms of ISO 9000. He said, India is utilising huge amount on setting up laboratories to facilitate its business community.-APP
