KARACHI: A powerful 18-member Pakistan National Shipping Corporation delegation will leave here on Tuesday (August 29) for London to finalize the deal for the purchase of four ships.

The delegation will be joined by another 6 members from the Chief of Naval establishment.

While the PNSC delegation will be headed by Rear Admiral (Rtd) Jawaid Ali, Chairman, PNSC, Admiral Mansurul Haq, Chief of the Naval Staff, will lead the CNS delegation.

The PNSC delegation will also include Vice-Chairman, Mohsin Manzoor and several directors and general managers. Some of them will be accompanied by their wives.

A few PNSC's board members will also be included in the delegation because the PNSC board meeting is scheduled to be held in London. The composition of the delegation and the holding of board meeting in London suggests that in all probability the deal for the purchase of ships will be finalised and, in order to avoid delay will be approved by the board then and there.

The delegation will return to Pakistan in the second week of September. If everything goes smoothly and the deal is signed, details will be announced on the return of delegation here. Until then every thing is being kept a closely guarded secret.

Despite best efforts, details concerning the amount involved in the purchase of ships, time of delivery, age of ships and other information could not be obtained from the PNSC.
