Altaf talks
LAHORE: Deputy Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, has stressed the need for having serious negotiations between the government and MQM to fetch a lasting solution to the Karachi crisis. He suggested that negotiations must be held between Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and MQM Chief, Altaf Hussain, if both the parties were really sincere to solve the Karachi issue.
Talking to PPI here on Sunday, he said responsibility of the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi rests both on the government and the MQM. He asked for talks between the Prime Minister and Altaf Hussain and the monitoring of these talks by a "Qaumi Jirga" (national council).
This Jirga should comprise personalities of eminence in various fields of life and after monitoring the talks, this Jirga should apprise the nation as to who was responsible for deteriorating the situation in Karachi, he added.-PPI
