ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary press corps on Sunday ended its boycott of the National Assembly proceedings on the assurance of veteran politician and Chairman, Kashmir Committee, Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan that the APP issue will be resolved within two days.

Nawabzada visited the press lounge and informed the journalists that he had called on President Sardar Farooq Ahmed Leghari and apprised him of the on-going situation in the official news agency, APP.

He said he handed over a file to the President containing all the details regarding the transfers, forced retirements and removal of the employees from the Associated Press of Pakistan.

He told reporters that the President gave him a patient hearing and he was hopeful that the President will resolve the issue. He said that the President will also discuss the issue with the Prime Minister.

Later, he raised the matter on the floor of the National Assembly on a point of order and requested the journalists to call off their boycott of the House proceedings.

He assured the journalists that the issue will be resolved within two days.

The joint action committee of the journalists, with the consultation with other senior journalists, decided to end their boycott.

President, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, (PFUJ) Saud Sahir, thanked the Nawabzada for his visit to the press lounge and raising the APP issue with the President.-PPI
