KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust has successfully completed the second phase of handling of large oil tankers at its newly constructed Oil Pier, OP-5, and is looking ahead to enter into the third and final phase of handling tankers with 39 ft draught.

The Deputy Conservator of KPT on Saturday carried out berthing of an oil tanker M.T. Volga with a draught of 38 ft carrying 55000 tonnes of diesel oil at OP-5.

With the successful handling of tankerss with 38 ft draught the KPT has announced new parameters for handling of oil tankers at OP-5 with immediate effect. The parameters are: Length 850 ft, Beam 130 ft draught 37 ft., Deadweight 75000 tonnes and Displacement 95000 tonnes.
