gets a pair

or Llamas

KARACHI: Karachi Zoological Garden got a pair of Guanacos popularly known as Llama for the first time since its inception.

Llama Guancos, a member of camel family its found in South America and is closely related to Alpaca, Llama and Vicuana.

They lack the camel hump peculiar to the family but have long legs, a short tail and large pointed ears with reddish skin.

The other additions to the Karachi Zoo include four Fallow Deer (a male and three female Deer), a Shetland Pony and a Red Deer. The Karachi Zoo before the current additions had only three female red deer. With the procurement of the male, a nucleus of a normal herd has now been established.

Safari Park also received some new arrivals. Heretoo four Sika Deer and a pair of Fallow Deer were added.

The city zoo previously had three fallow deer. With the new additions the total now goes to seven, a number considered perfect for an average herd.-APP
