GUJRANWALA: A complete strike was observed on the appeal of small traders against the three controversial columns in the new income tax return form.

All main markets of the city remained closed. Some big factories, however, continued their work. With their doors closed. The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry remained open. Traffic was normal but city more a deserted look.

Dr Mehmood Ahmed, General Secretary, Markazi Anjuman Tajran Gujranwala told Business Recorder that the peaceful strike will continue for tomorrow and the struggle will continue till the achievement of the goal. He criticized the role of (GCCI) and said that in the past traders always backed the industrialists and chamber but for the first time on their call they backed out and tried to divide the business community. Certainly, it will damage the common cause of the community, but it is hard to believe that the shutter power is main power and now shutter will remain closed till the government changes her attitude, he remarked.
