chiefs asked
to streamline
recoveries
KARACHI: While addressing the regional chiefs conference at Murree, M. Younus Dalia, President of Habib Bank Limited laid major stress on recovery of stuck-up portfolio. According to him, future progress of the bank is directly linked with the pace of recovery and therefore advised the entire staff to make substantial contribution in this respect.
During the meeting, he also announced fresh measures to further strengthen recovery process and to arrest further increase in the classified portfolio. The measures include more effective pre-sanction and post-disbursement monitoring, rescheduling/restructuring of finances and further strengthening the recovery operations. He also indicated that the staff, making handsome contribution in cash recovery, will be rewarded.
Dalia however, expressed his satisfaction over the recovery position under the Transport scheme where finances of around Rs.500 million were recovered during the first half of current year. He advised the field staff to continue with the present momentum of recovery under the scheme and accelerate their efforts to show better results in future.
In depth discussion also took place on the performance of different regions in the various spheres of banking activity. Dalia advised the regional chiefs that with the delegation of powers and reduced size of the regions viz-a-viz defunct PHQs, they must have complete grip over their operations and therefore are expected to show better progress in future.
The matter regarding meeting the seasonal credit requirements of priority sectors also came under discussion and the Dalia pointed out that these sectors being vital to the economic development of the country, our Bank will ensure to meet all their genuine requirements.
He also revealed that more innovative products are on the anvil which will be announced shortly. He was confident that the new products will further promote the business and image of the bank.
Speaking on the aspect of service to the clients, he exhorted the staff to show 'Habibians' spirit in their dealings with the clients and emphasised that such an attitude alone will considerably help in the mobilisation of deposits development of business and increase in the profitability of the bank.
