Lahore paper marked
dull due to Karachi strike
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: The Gunpat Road Paper market was quite dull and deserted because of the two-day strike in Karachi called by the MQM.
The idle traders discussed the letter of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo which he had written to the family of the deceased trader of Sujjah Ahmed who was killed by some dacoits some months back.
The chief minister through his letter has intimated the general secretary of the paper market union, Syed Muttahir Ali, that he had directed his staff to forward a summary for financial, assistance of the deceased's family.
The market union had demanded assistance for the deceased's son who had been injured during the incident and his lower body had completely been paralyzed.
Paper traders could make few transcations because buyers were few in view of the five-day closure of the market. MQM started its two-day strike on Wednesday while the Punjab traders have announced to pull down their shutters on August 26 and 27.
Paper prices remained unchanged.
