KARACHI: The telephone numbers starting with "53" of Clifton Exchange will be converted into digital numbers with "583" from August 25, 1995.

A spokesman of Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTC) said in Karachi on Tuesday that the last four digits of telephone numbers starting with "53" will however not be changed.

The spokesman said that with the conversion into digital lines, the subscribers will have the facility of abbreviated dialling, call transfer and secret code.

The spokesman has advised the subscribers to use the secret code in order to avoid complaints of excessive billing.

It has, however, advised the subscribers to call following numbers: 5831111, 5831112 and 5861111, for further information and assistance.
