Call for efforts
to boost
Pak-Iran trade
volume
KARACHI: Mohammad Ali Massoumi, first Consul, Consulate of Iran, Karachi has expressed concern over continuous fall in volume of trade between Iran and Pakistan and called for serious efforts by both sides to reverse the trend.
Massoumi who called on S.M. Muneer, President FPCCI on Monday, at Federation House, Karachi assured that Iranian Consulate General, Karachi would issue visas to the businessmen on the recommendation of FPCCI and Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The Iranian diplomat welcomed the forthcoming visit of S.M. Muneer at the head of delegation to Iran and hoped the visit will lead to promotion of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
S.M. Muneer assured Massoumi that he was also concerned that the volume of trade between Pakistan and Iran was not commensurate with the warmth and depth of their friendly relations. He said that during his visit to Iran he would explore avenues for enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
S.M. Naqi, member, Managing Committee of FPCCI who also attended the meeting suggested that launches be allowed to transport goods between Karachi and Bunder Abbas ports and warehousing facilities be provided at Bunder Abbas port for transit goods to the Central Asian Republics.
The meeting was also attended by Agha Sayed Said Mohammad of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Quetta (Balochistan) and Rafiq Khan, Secretary General FPCCI.
