WASHINGTON: Eight people were killed in a fiery crash on a highway in northwestern Illinois Sunday evening.

The crash occurred when a car trying to pass a crowded van went out of control and both vehicles burst into flame. The car's driver and seven people in the van including three children got killed. Six survivors were pulled out of the van by a man and his son who arrived on the scene shortly after the accident.

"If it had not been for him and his son, we would have had six more victims," a local police said.-Xinhua
