India offers

to release 4

jailed Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD: India made an offer to release four prisoned Kashmiris from its jail saying the kidnappers must prove the four western hostages were still alive, said BBC TV in its news on Monday.

ZEE TV said Indian Government had talked to Al-Faran Group but authorities refused to divulge the details. It said the Indian Government had appealed to the kidnappers to prove the hostages were safe. There was demonstration in Srinagar to demand the release of the Western hostages, said ZEE TV.

Doordarshan TV in its news said negotiations with the kidnappers are continuing but the situation in the Valley is still tense.

The Indian Government feared that the hostages might be killed by their captors, said Doordarshan.

KB Jhandiyal, Director Information said the kidnappers told us the hostages were safe but they have yet to give the proof of their safety, said Doordarshan TV.-APP
