FRANKFURT: German shares end bourse slightly up but off new year's high, as DAX flirts with all-time record at 2,284.56 (corrects from 2,282.60) on back of buying spurred by dollar gains. Market underpinned by firm Bund market.

30-share DAX index ends bourse trade up 5.92 points at 2,269.38, or up 0.26 percent, and reaches new year's high of 2,277.43 but fails to extend gains.

Bank shares trade higher, bolstered by firmer dollar and outlook for interest rates.

Linotype (LITG.F)tumbles 37.50 marks to 309.00 after said it may not pay 1995 dividend, reported widened loss.-Reuter
