Dollar falls
in Taiwan
TAIPEI: The Taiwan dollar ended down against its American counterpart in active trade on heavy demand for the US dollar from local importers and individual investors, dealers said.
The rate finished at T$27.4520 against Saturday's T$27.4350 close on active turnover of US$208 million. Although the US dollar weakened in overseas markets, dealers said local demand for the US dollar was still strong. "Many importers see T$27.44 as a good point to buy the US dollar," a dealer said. But the Taiwan dollar movements will still depend on the central bank. A range of T$27.43-48 was seen.-Reuter
