ISLAMABAD: President Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari has said that he will continue to play his role for building consensus in the country on all matters of vital national importance.

He was talking to the office-bearers and Executive Committee members of Pakistan Newspapers and Periodicals Organization (PNPO) and Newspapers Editors' Council of Pakistan (NECP) at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Sunday.

The President appealed to the national press to help him by promoting and projecting the national consensus which exists on Kashmir, the nuclear issue, Pakistan's security concerns, sectarianism and major economic policies of the country.

He also informed them on his recent contacts with some leaders and members of the Opposition and hoped that this process will continue in future also. The President spoke at length about the prevailing situation in the country including the Karachi situation and the recent developments in the region with special reference to Kashmir, Afghanistan and Indo-Pakistan relations.

At the end, he President gave detailed answers to several questions on the Government - Opposition relationship, the Karachi situation and the possibilities of investment in Pakistan.
