prices up on grain markets

KARACHI: Prices of imported moong and urad rose sharply on the seed and grain markets as demanded outran the meagre available stocks. Wheat, also managed a grain of Re one. Otherwise, most of the trading on Sunday was done at previous rates.

A couple of changes took place on the market and they were on higher side.

On the cereals sector, where major variations were observed, moong from China improved its price level by Rs 50 while from other countries, it was higher by Rs 25. Wheat, said to be handled by the government, and is on gradual rise, was modestly up by Re one.

On the grams sector, dal beetle was sharply up but bajra declined Rs 6.

Seed sector, as also the rise and sugar sectors, showed no fluctuations as demand and supply were evenly matched.
