Fazl asks people
to prepare for
next elections
HARIPUR: The General Secretary of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has observed that political cooperation or alliance with the government does not mean that "we support each and every step taken by the government".
He said "being inside the government or out of it, our aim is the supremacy of Islamic law above all things".
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman was addressing people at the Siddiq-e-Akbar Chowk here on Sunday.
He said people should get ready for the next round of elections in which the Jamiat was sure to win more seats in the national and provincial assemblies.
He said the country was politically and administratively unstable but such ups and down do happen in the lives of democratic governments, he added.
The Maulana said conditions prevailing in Karachi, the Malakand and Khyber agencies demand that the government take every step with great caution.
The government should also level the ground for national solidarity with an open heart and the greatest care, he added.
Commenting on the statement about Kashmir by Abdul Wali Khan, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said Wali Khan had not spoken the truth and had shut his eyes on facts.
He said "the fact is that India has openly betrayed the agreements on Kashmir and added that the entire nation stands united on the Kashmir issue.-PPI
